Jan 2010 poker nite.
Hiya!
First I’d like to thank Kathy for volunteering her place at the last minute in January for our poker night. Since Kathy was nice enough to provide her place, we decided not to drink as much so likeng won’t knock off beer bottles on the floor, and table. Plus Janet had danny on a real short leash, I couldn’t get danny to drink at all, that part sucked cause danny is so much fun drunk.
So, in case you didn’t go last time, too bad, cause I don’t remember much, after john is born I think I lost a lot of brain power due to lack of sleep. All I remember is, we didn’t drink! Zomg! I even got a designated driver so I can go all out, but Marty wouldn’t drink (had to drive back to wherever, such a wuss, the man gets drunk as fast as little michelle), danny couldn’t drink (he was on a short leash and wants to live), likeng was busy taking my money (and said he won’t drink cause he had to leave early to use video skype with the… “wife”), Patrick won’t drink… oh wait Patrick wasn’t even there. even if he were there he’ll give the drinks to fanny anyway.
More story on Danny, he was playing poker with us, and Janet was standing behind him. As every hand was dealt, danny would hold up his cards, looks at them, and turns around to look at janet. Then Janet would either nod, or shake. If she shakes her head, danny would fold. If janet nods, danny would put in the ante, or call the bet. But this is not news to us. What I’m getting to is, I can TOTALLY see marty doing this with joyce.
So we had 2 new comers in January, Paul’s brother (tom) and Likeng’s cousin (dan). Likeng was so nice to his cousin (Dan) that he invited Dan to the poker night and told him to meet us at kathy’s place. so likeng, being a good Taiwanese person, shows up in Taiwan times, which is 1-2 hrs late in American time. dan, on the other hand, showed up on time, and he was ALLLLLL alone sitting there don’t know what to do cause likeng wasn’t there. this story teaches us a lesson. When likeng invites you to an event, don’t show up too early!
Anyway, Daniel keeps up his good name of 50 cent, he kept on betting strong, which scared us at the beginning. But then his luck turned on him and lost to tom and dan. It’s like all the new comers always win! Tom had a ton of winnings but had to leave early, so he gave his share to Paul, and paul being a good man gives the winnings back to the rest of us.
The kids were playing nerf guns as usual, if marty had been there he would’ve had a good time!
This Saturday’s poker is at Amy’s place, it’s her first time so let’s be nice to her place. I’ll get Amy’s address sometime today and update that in the meeting invite. Hope to see y’all there!

error report of poker nite #13
Accept if you can’t live without poker this month, you absolutely need your poker fix, you will go insane without poker. But really, you just want to have free drinks at poker night and laugh with Danny when he gets drunk, and see how much Fanny can drink while Patrick sit there with his DROID, oh wait, I forgot, he don’t got one. But then you can laugh at Marty because he will still gets lost with his free GPS DROID.
Tentative if you will attend poker night if there’s one, and you will sleep at home if there’s no poker. You are bored and lazy, if there’s poker you’ll attend and try to make a few bucks against Mr. Fifty cent, and if there’s no poker you’ll stay home and watch the weather channel. Or you can stay home with play with your DROID like Patrick, oh wait, I forgot, he don’t got one.
Decline if you have better things to do than to hangout with your loser friends that have no life. But in reality you are just staying home playing online poker on your iphone/itouch/DROID and trying to polish your poker skills for next month because you don’t want to lose to someone that “never played poker” before. because for the past 2 months we all lost to the people that have “never played poker” before. error file of poker nite #12
Ok, that was my lame attempt to try to let whatever happens in poker night stays in poker night. Now that the serious business is taken care of, let’s continue to what happened last month!
2 months ago we found out that, Kevin (me) was Korean. Well, guess what? Last month we found out, Daniel K., is African American! Read on to see what happened…
So, October poker night was at kevin’s place. even though it wasn’t a house warming party, people still brought over presents, well, they were all diapers, except for Daniel, he got me Bounty, which is useful as well as soon as the baby comes. Thanks you guys! Anyway, we began with some Kari Out Chinese food, it was a lot of food and it took me 3 days to finish the leftovers. You guys need to eat more! After dinner, we had a raffle drawing, all those that brought diapers gets to draw for a free buy-in! we wrote down all the names and place them in my sweaty Yankees cap. Daniel’s name was drawn from the cap, so he got a free buy-in!!
Since our very own cat king (that’s Marty Williams when he doesn’t shave for a month, for those of you that don’t know) wasn’t there, there were little raising pre-flop. Everyone played conservatively, until Daniel started betting. Daniel, at the beginning of the night, told us he never played poker before. so he bets $50. Then everyone folds because that’s a lot of money. Then he started playing like a pro, so we asked again, “have you ever played poker before?” Daniel replied, “I have never played poker with you guys before”. HA! so there you go.
Daniel continues with the big bets, always $50 after flop, and turn, and more on the river. After several hands, I forget who, either not-funny (that’s Patrick for the new comers) or Horse shoe (that’s Marty Tiglao for the new comers), gave Daniel a nick name. they called him, “50 cent”. So that name stuck for the rest of the night, and the following week at work. that’s when we found out Daniel was really a African American.
Over the course of the night, our Horse Shoe had the worst luck, ever. He went all-in on very good hands, then loses to Likeng who has pretty bad hands. And we know why Likeng goes all in, because he’s gotta go home! The percentage before the flop is almost 70-80% in Marty’s favor, but with his bad luck, he manages to lose 3 all-in hands to Likeng. Believe me, you gotta be pretty unlucky to do that!
“50 cent” continues to overpower everyone with his $50 bets, until Tina finally called on his bets and won! Well, once or twice, but at the end, Tina lost. I can’t believe 50 cent would take money from a pregnant lady. So mean!
Towards the end of the night, not-funny (that’s Patrick, in case you forgot already) went all in against Daniel. Not-funny posted this video on facebook so you can find it there, or click on this link, www.facebook/iforgotthelinkyoushouldjustgotheretopatrickspageandsearchforthevideoyousolazy.com”. Anyway, after the flop, Daniel had 2 pairs against Patrick’s straight draw. That’s 70% against 30% in Daniel’s favor. The turn comes out, and Patrick made a straight! That shifted the hand to 95% Patrick vs. 5% Daniel. We were all shocked. Then the river card, and Daniel made a full house and won!! It was amazing how the table was turned. It’s something you’d see in world series of poker on TV. You had to be there to enjoy that moment. You can hear everyone screaming in the video, with the link I provided above.
After Patrick lost his straight, we decided to call it quits, because only me and 50 cent were left with money, everyone else all lost. We decided to stop because 50 cent is just too PRO! He must’ve borrowed Janet’s poker for dummies right before the game…
Anyways, Kim was invited to my poker night party, but earlier that day she called and said she wasn’t feeling well, so I told her Poker Night was cancelled. Good thing she’s not on this email list!

poker nite #11 error file.
My outlook was acting funny, resending…
Looks like it’s going to be on 24th and at my place! I won’t have the backyard ready so no grill so no BBQ at my place. we’ll order some takeout from nearby Chinese restaurant, so don’t bring too much food! But bring whatever you like and share of course.
A little recap if you didn’t attend last month’s poker night…
It turns out Kevin, yes that’s me, is Korean! I bet you never knew that! Neither did I…
It turns out Marty is also Kevin, according to Danny. I asked Danny not to insult me like that, so he stopped calling Marty Kevin.
We found out Fanny is really good at singing! Actually she’s good at pretty much everything! Unlike not-funny.
We did a little nerf-gun fight, adults vs kids. In the beginning it’s just the kids vs me, then I forcefully kidnapped their gun and started shooting back. Did you know that, little Danny and Josh, sent Miquel to come after me, and I’d play with Miquel and try to scare him by running after him with the gun, when I reach the stairs, Josh and little Danny unleashed all their fire power on me! ZOMG!! They are so little and are already using tactics and bait and traps.
We then moved out to the backyard to play some basketball/football. All the kids were playing on the grass, then all of a sudden the sprinklers went on! All the kids were screaming and scattered and ran out of the grass area except for Michelle. Likeng ran to the side of the grass and called her to come out but wouldn’t go in to grab her! ZOMG!! The mom finally grabbed her and got out to safety.
We started drinking early, for Danny’s birthday. We took 1 round of shots, and another round, and some more after that. Marty and I decided to drink with Danny individually so we can get Danny to drink more. Unfortunately Janet found out and stopped us after Danny and I took the first shot. Then I realized I was played! Danny didn’t get to drink a second shot, and Marty escaped the shot! ZOMG!!
During our poker game, we took a break to drink more tequila. We were at the kitchen, drank 1 shot, and I coerced Danny to drink a second shot. We got back to the table and I whispered this to Marty, and somehow, Janet heard me! ZOMG!! She’s got those mom instinct that just knows when others are up to no good. I was WHISPERING and she HEARD ME! I still can’t believe it. so I kinda got Danny in trouble and he couldn’t drink anymore for that night.
After a few drinks we started guessing Janet’s poker hand after the initial bet pre flop. At one hand, Janet bet 15 and Marty shouted, “pair of kings” right away. The flop came out and there was 1 Ace. We started saying only the person with an Ace would stay and play, because that will beat Janet’s hand. Amy then bet $25, and we were so sure she had an Ace. Janet then folded her pair of Kings and it turns out Amy only had a pair of 2’s! ZOMG!! Janet was turning red and shooting fire at us with her eyes.
The whole night everyone played well and conservatively. I was the only person that bought in a second time, and at the end I won the most, which was only $16. I got lucky because Likeng had to leave so we went all in and I won all his money. Haha.
Oh shoot, I forgot to remove Tina from this email, because she wasn’t feeling well so I told her Poker Night was cancelled. Now she knows I lied! ZOMG!!

poker nite #10 error file.
I was going to write up my .err file (patrick language for summary)
for august poker night, but according to Janet, poker night was cancelled,
so I got nothing to write about.
But then if poker night did happen, here’s what would’ve happened…
We would’ve started the poker night with some video games, Josh always
wanted to play against me on that star fox Nintendo game. With my leet
video game skills, I managed to pick up more commands than Josh told me.
After minutes of battling, I finally WON! Woohoo! Ok ok in my day dream
I won, but if it were to happen for real then I didn’t win… Josh remains
the champion of star fox video game! Until little Danny challenges him next month.
Likeng’s wife prepared some food, it was really good even though Likeng
didn’t like it. Patrick and Fanny brought over steak and were BBQ’ing on
Likeng’s balcony. It was goooooood.
We couldn’t wait for everyone so we started our usual $1 buy-in mini
poker game, Marty T. kept on pwning (wow language for owning) Likeng and
took all his money, like 5 times! I think Likeng was just being nice cause
Marty was his guest.
We started our real poker game I forgot what time, oh wait, this never
happened anyway so I’ll just make up a time, let’s say, 8pm. let’s also say
Patrick didn’t go ALL-IN on the first hand, so he didn’t lose his money, but
he did go ALL-IN on the 10th hand and lost it all. Patrick didn’t want to
buy-in again so he tries to become the dealer. He actually did ok.
Marty W. tried his winning strategy from last month, by going 12/17/22 pre-flop
each hand. He soon followed Patrick’s footsteps and lost. Then bought in again,
and lost again, rinse and repeat. Then he played conservatively for a couple of hands and lost his last buy-in. so he got up from his chair and walked out of the apartment, for almost 30 min! we were worried and thought he got mugged, so we sent out a search team to look for him in Likeng’s complex. Turned out he was mugging ppl so he can have money to play again. Oh wait, I mean, he was talking to his friend on the phone.
Amy over the night just kept on winning and winning. A pair of 3’s won a 500 chip pot! Ok, the numbers were made-up but it was something like a low pair won a huge pot. The stars were aligned for Amy and she kept on winning and took everyone’s money. we even have a picture to prove this! Oh wait, that picture is probably from photoshop cause poker night never happened…
Towards the end, Patrick decides to take pictures when everyone’s tired.

Let’s trash Janet’s place next! Ok let’s be nice and not trash it, let’s just get Danny wasted.
